It’s ya girl Ms. Nore and I’m here to talk about Alicia Keys’s third studio album, AS I AM.  The thing about great artists is that they have to be able to evolve and step out of their comfort zone.  I love artists that give you a little diversity yet at the same time, they’re able to stay true to who they are.  When we first heard of Alicia Keys, she was the young girl with braids that played the piano very well.  Over the years, she’s transformed into a young woman that can also step from behind the piano and deliver a high energy filled performance. 

 

Her first single off the album was “No One” which probably made most Keys fans want to buy the CD. The strong vocals, powerful beat and sincere words had women professing their love for their man…even if they didn’t have one… “I don’t worry cuz, everything’s gonna be alright. People keep talking; they can say what they like.”  AS I AM showcases Alicia’s maturity on several emotionally laced tracks.  Alicia also changes up her usual vocal range and gives us passion so raw, you can feel and almost see it.  “Lesson Learned” with John Mayer, is about being able to dust yourself off & keep it movin after having your heartbroken…Just don’t forget the lesson ladies!  “Like You’ll Never See Me Again” is definitely one of my favorite songs on the album. The melody is catchy and her delivery is sexy and almost whisper-like at times.  “Every time you hold me, hold me like it's the last time, every time you kiss me, kiss me like you'll never see me again."  “Teenage Love Affair” reminds us of that young love…you know… that first kiss before the street lights came on; talking on the phone until the sun came up, holding hands at recess and slow dancing in the basement parties.   I could go on forever about this album, but I’ll cut it short.  I highly recommend this album.  AS I AM is most definitely the appropriate title for Alicia’s latest album.  It is the core of Alicia Keys…As she is
